M. Coale, “The Abraham Lincoln Brigade: from the Spanish Civil War to Civil Rights”
Ce cours est une étude de l’histoire des Américains qui se sont portés volontaires dans les Brigades internationales pendant la Guerre d’Espagne, connus à tort sous le nom de la Brigade Abraham Lincoln. Nous couvrirons leur combat en Espagne ainsi que leur engagement antifasciste pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, leur persécution sous le maccarthysme et leur participation aux campagnes pour les droits civiques dans les années 1960. Enseigné exclusivement en anglais, nous étudierons des documents originaux de l’époque afin de permettre aux étudiants d’améliorer leur compréhension et leur expression dans la langue cible.
